The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has called for concerted efforts from District Elections Supervisory Team (DEST), government institutions, Civil Society Organizations, and the public to enhance electoral processes and curb corruption.
The call was made on Friday during a special workshop on Ethics and Integrity held in Dowa, targeting DEST members as part of preparations for the upcoming elections slated for 16 September.
Speaking at the event, ACB Chief Public Education Officer, Egrita Mndala, urged DEST members to take a leading role in upholding electoral integrity to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.
Mndala emphasized the importance of public officials refraining from corrupt practices during the election period, warning that such behavior could undermine the credibility of the entire process.
“You must become what the public expects and deserves—ethical public servants who embody professionalism, truth, and trust,” she said.
She further called on the media to enhance awareness campaigns on electoral process for the public to understand.
On his part, Dowa District Commissioner Starich Mwambiwa encouraged DEST members to discharge their duties according to the law and serve the public without fear or favor.
Mwambiwa further pledged to uphold electoral ethics and integrity in the district as the country is in compaign period and beyond.
