Patients at Dzaleka health center are denied health services as medical personnel from the hospital are on strike.
This is so, as health workers at the Health facility have not been paid their salaries for the past 3 months
In an interview with Yetu FM, one of the patients Manes Banda, says she arrived at Dzaleka health center in the morning due to her chest problems and she was not attended.
According to an anonymous source, 20% of their stuff last received their salaries in April and 80% in May, since then no communication has been made as in when the funds will be released from UNHCR.
Yetu FM has observed that this situation leads to a poor service delivery at the hospital as health workers are giving excuses of transport issue, walking by foot from Dowa Boma to the health center resulting to late reporting to work or knocking off early.
The radio also established that it is detrimental to holistic patient care and timely management and security risk of hospital equipment which could otherwise be stolen because of the issue.
