MEC commissioner inspected voter verification centers around Mponele in Dowa district.

Malawi Electoral Commission’s Commissioner, Emmanuel Fabiano has bemoaned low turn out in the voter verification process in Dowa district.

Fabiano made the sentiments on Friday when he inspected some voter verification centers around Mponela in Dowa district where MEC observed low participation of voters in the verification process.

Fabiano told Yetu FM that the low turn out might be due to the existing online platform established by Malawi Electoral commission that enables citizens to verify using their mobile phone.

He then called upon political parties to encourage their followers to verify their names believing that people are the ones who vote leaders.

He therefore urged people who have lost their identification cards to also verify using their full names and date of birth or using finger print in order to verify if they appear in the voter register.
