The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has called on Election Management Device (EMD) Operators to carry out their duties with dedication and integrity during the upcoming nomination period.
The appeal was made on Sunday June 15, 2025 at Linde Hotel in Mponela during the official opening of a training session for EMD operators.
In an interview MEC’s Director of Electoral Services Hastings Botha, emphasized the importance of professionalism among the operators, stressing that the credibility of the electoral process and the future of democracy largely depends on their conduct.
The Commission also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering free and fair elections scheduled for 16 September 2025.
In his remarks, EMD Operator Mayeso Mahala pledged to carry out his duties with dedication and integrity, and to ensure the privacy of aspiring candidates is respected during the nomination processing period.
The nomination period commenced on 10 June 2025 and will end on 22 June.For Local Government elections while for presidential and parliamentary elections will close on July 5th, 2025.
