Trustees of Agriculture Promotion Program TAPP donates maize sheller to Tidziwane Village and Savings Loan Association

Trustees of Agricultural Promotion Program (TAPP) Executive Director, Dr. Gilson Njunga, has emphasized the need to support government efforts in promoting the commercialization of agriculture.

He made the remarks on Tuesday at Chibvala Extension Planning Area (EPA) in Dowa District when TAPP handed over a maize sheller to Tidziwane Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) under the Transform Project aimed at empowering communities to increase maize production.

Speaking to Yetu FM, Dr. Njunga urged the association to put the sheller to commercial use for the benefit of the community.

Dowa District Agricultural Extension and Meteorology Officer, Webster Jassi, commended TAPP for complementing government initiatives by providing modern technology to farmers.

He said the maize sheller will help farmers process maize faster and in larger quantities.

“If farmers adopt improved agricultural technologies, they will be able to increase production and ultimately improve their livelihoods,” Jassi said.

On her part, Tidziwane (VSLA) chairperson, Joyce Simon, expressed gratitude for the donation and pledged that the sheller will be properly utilized to serve its intended purpose.
