Dzaleka Centenary Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting healthcare services at Dzaleka Refugee Camp by donating K950,000 towards the renovation of the maternity ward at Dzaleka Health Centre.
Speaking on Friday during the handover of the completed painting project, Dzaleka Branch Manager Arnold Malinda said the bank was committed to addressing some of the challenges affecting the health sector in the camp through its corporate social responsibility programme.
Malinda said the bank decided to support the health facility after identifying the need to improve conditions in the maternity ward.
“We will continue supporting Dzaleka Health Centre because of the vital services it provides to the community. Many of the people who receive treatment here are our customers, and our employees also benefit from the healthcare services offered at the facility,” he said.
Dzaleka Health Centre Matron Asalegama Chimphanga thanked Centenary Bank for the support, describing the donation as timely and significant in improving the environment for mothers and newborns.
She also appealed to other organisations and development partners to emulate Centenary Bank by supporting the health centre, saying the facility continues to face numerous challenges that require financial assistance.
The K950,000 donation was used to paint the maternity ward, improving the appearance and condition of the facility for both patients and healthcare workers.
