Minister of Local Government and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda, has assured residents of Dowa District that government remains committed to the district’s continued development.

Speaking on Sunday May, 25 during a political rally held at Dowa Community Ground, Chimwendo highlighted ongoing road rehabilitation projects, including the Lumbadzi–Kasungu road and the construction of Dzaleka–Malomo–Ntchisi road, aimed at easing transportation challenges faced by farmers when transporting their produce.

He also revealed that plans are underway to expand Dowa District Hospital in order to improve healthcare services and meet the growing needs of the district’s population.

Speaking earlier Former Minister of Trade and Public Works, Sosten Gwengwe, emphasized the importance of Malawi becoming self-reliant.

Gwengwe pointed out that with the United States of America cutting aid to Africa, Malawi must shift from being aid-dependent to becoming a producing nation.

To achieve this, he urged the people of Dowa to vote for Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in the upcoming elections scheduled for 16 September.

The rally brought together prominent political figures including Minister of Agriculture Sam Dalitso Kawale, Minister of Land Duos Gumba, Deputy Minister of Gender Halima Daudi, MCP Regional Chairperson Patrick Zebron Chilondola, MCP Youth Director Steven Baba Malondera and Martin Luka a Shadow Member of Parliament who won primary elections in Dowa Central Constituency.
