Member of Parliament and Minister of Agriculture, Sam Dalitso Kawale, has emerged victorious in the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) primary elections held in Dowa North East Constituency, securing 837 votes.
Kawale defeated four other contenders to represent the party again in the upcoming general elections slated for September 16.
The runner-up, Kalilani B. Chawalesa Chunga, garnered 167 votes, while Pemphero Phiri Joseph came third with 132 votes.
In an interview with Yetu Radio after the results were announced, Kawale expressed his gratitude to the delegates for trusting him once again.
“I am thankful to all who have put their trust in me. I promise to continue serving the people diligently,” Kawale said.
He further called upon Malawians to vote for the country’s President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, in the September 16 elections, emphasizing that continued leadership would foster further development across the nation.
Kawale also encouraged his competitors in the primaries to remain committed to the party, urging them to work together for the good of MCP and the country at large.
Meanwhile, in the councilor elections Elizabeth Chulu won in the western part of Msakambewa with 467 votes, while Chinipha Mchiteni triumphed in the eastern part of Msakambewa with 360 votes.
