The National Local Government Finance Committee (NLGFC) has hailed the progress of digital payments under the Social Cash Transfer and Climate Smart programs in Dowa District.

The remarks were made on Thursday August 6, during District Executive Committee meeting.

NLGFC E-Payment Specialist Jane Chidengu said the system has helped reduce delays and cut costs by eliminating mobility expenses during cash distribution.

She announced that beneficiaries will now be paid through TNM Mpamba, following the end of the agreement with NBS Bank.

Dowa Director of Planning and Development, Mercy Mpakule, urged TNM to address network challenges to ensure smooth transactions.

Currently 16,725 people will benefit under the Social Cash Transfer program and 23,900 under the Climate Smart Agriculture initiative.
