A social commentator based in Dowa, Symon Black, has called on parents and guardians to protect the rights and safety of children during the ongoing campaign period ahead of the 16 September elections.

His remarks follow the noticeable presence of children at political rallies across the district.

Speaking to Yetu FM, Black stressed the important role parents and guardians must play in ensuring that children stay home and are kept safe during political gatherings.

He warned that rallies often expose young ones to violence and inappropriate language, which can negatively influence their mindset and behavior.

He further urged political leaders to discourage the attendance of children at campaign events, saying politics should not interfere with children’s well-being.

Black also appealed for a peaceful campaign period, reminding all stakeholders that violence does not build a nation
