Fountain of Hope Program Manager, Jack Morisho, says the organization is intensifying efforts to support Dzaleka residents and surrounding communities through the implementation of its food security project.

Morisho made the remarks on Thursday at the organization’s premises during an ongoing distribution of food items to parents whose children are enrolled at the institution.

Speaking to Yetu FM, Morisho disclosed that the school currently has over 800 learners in both primary and secondary sections, with each parent receiving 5 kilograms of beans and 5 kilograms of rice.

He explained that the initiative is part of the organization’s broader mandate to support parents and guardians of learners, regardless of their level of vulnerability.

Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries, Evarson Mankwanzi from Kakowa Village under Traditional Authority Msakambewa, encouraged fellow parents to continue supporting their children’s education despite prevailing economic challenges.

Echoing the sentiments, Jolie Kayombo, a Congolese national, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that many learners in Dzaleka face food shortages, a situation that contributes to absenteeism and school dropouts.

Yetu community radio boasts of being a unique radio as it is based in a refugee camp setup and is the only radio in Malawi that broadcasts in five languages, namely; English, Chichewa, Kiswahili, French, and Kinyarwanda. The station broadcasts on 107.6 MHZ across the central region of Malawi.
